Podcast EOTO

I have always really enjoyed listening to podcasts so when we were assigned this project I knew I wanted to talk about the history of podcasts. It all started in 2004 by Adam Curry and Dave Winer who developed the software. He made a program that allowed them to download the podcast onto their iPods. This was very beneficial to them and by the next year, there were a lot of companies that started to recognize them and saw how much potential podcasting could be. One of the biggest companies that recognized them was Apple and they put out their iTunes 4.9 update which allowed people to listen to podcasts. Podcast development started to continue to grow and became a great source of information throughout the years. Moving all the way to 2013 Apple said that they had 1 billion podcast subscriptions which is a very impressive number. Podcasting continues to keep growing and as of 2019, there had been around 90 million Americans were listening to podcasts daily and 165 million people have at least listened to a podcast once.

Aside from some of the history of the podcast I really enjoy listening to them myself. Podcasts make my long car rides down to college very enjoyable as I get to listen and learn from a lot of genius people. My favorite podcaster is Joe Rogan because he does a lot of great collaborations with huge celebrities. And the podcasts are pretty long, they could be as long as 3 hours which is great if you really like who Joe is hosting on the show. He has over 1 thousand podcasts that you can listen to and they can be found on Youtube until September 1st. The reason I say they are only available till September 1st is that Joe Rogan recently signed a deal with Spotify for over 100 million dollars to put all of his podcast onto their platform. This really shows how successful you can be from making podcasts and it seems like a very cool job being able to talk to all these notable people. I believe that throughout time podcasts will just continue to evolve and grow because it's a great way to learn new things instead of just listening to music all the time. If you ever have the chance to listen to a podcast try one they truly are a great way to learn.
